I started a company

Supporting the act of continuing

There is more useful software in the world than anyone could count.

Most of it is optimized for getting used. It sends notifications, stretches out time spent, draws your attention every day. As a business, that is a rational design.

But the software I want to build does not lie in that direction. I want to build software that supports continuing.

English, exercise, reading, shopping, keeping records.

None of these are finished in one go. Small actions, sustained without strain, over a long time. That accumulation eventually becomes a skill, or a habit.

HabitHabitant LLC is a company that supports that repetition.

Reducing the friction of continuing

We are building several products that support habits and learning. The domains differ, but there is a shared way of thinking.

It is this: reduce the friction of continuing.

Opening it is a chore. Logging is heavy. Looking back is complicated.

We want to remove those small frictions one by one, and build software that lets you focus on the effort that actually matters. The point is not to remove effort itself, but to reduce the waste around it.

About this blog

On this blog, I will write about the following.

  • How I think about product design, and the process of building software
  • Technical lessons, and what I have learned from failures
  • The theory and practice of learning a foreign language

Rather than day-to-day events, I hope to slowly accumulate writing that stays valuable over time.

In closing

Not flashy features, but something you can naturally keep using every day. Not a single moment of awe, but value that accumulates over years. That is the software I will be building from here.

Thank you for reading.
